First, you need to know that no official support for flash on android means no more security or stability updates, no official support channels if something goes wrong. Second, you need to know that security updates no longer being developed for flash for android means that running it could open you up to security risks and malicious flash content. No record of flash exploits specifically targeting android users doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen. Third, if you are installing an app from a third-party source, you will need to disable one of android’s built-in security options. You need to re-enable it. Forth, on newer hardware, especially devices of android 4.1, you may experience stability issues with flash content. Last, you need a phone or tablet running android 2.2(Froyo) to 4.1(Jelly Bean). Check setting> about phone/ about tablet to see what you are running. If it is Jelly Bean, please check that you have a browser installed besides Google Chrome, since Chrome for android doesn’t support flash. Then check app drawer for “Browser” or “Internet”.

  1. It’s ok to install apps from sources other than Google Play. You need to check the box marked “Unknow sources”. This will be found under Setting > Applications on android 2.2, 2.3, 3.x; under Settings > Security on android 4.x.
  2. You need to download the flash for android application downloader on your phone or tablet.
  3. Then you can pull down the notification area and tap on the file to install it. Tap “install” on the next screen to confirm.
  4. After the flash is installed, you can go into phone’s stock browser again, since Google Chrome will not support your newly-installed flash apk.
  5. On android 3.0 or later, go to Menu > Settings >Advanced > Enable plug-ins. In order to enable flash content all the time, you need to select “Always on”, or to enable it selectively on each page, choose “On demand”. On android 2.2 or 2.3, go to Menu > Settings, where you will find the “Enable plug-ins” option.
  6. You need to be ready to go.
